Index Support and Resistance for Monday, 11/16/2015

Friday the 13th and Shades of August … here we go again …  The US Federal Reserve has Mr. & Ms. Fickle Markets, like a puppet on strings, jerking all us around to the tune of I don’t know.    We have been left to discuss, debate, and speculate … “Will they?” or “Won’t they?” raise interest rates.  There are USA data, and fundamental arguments for both sides of that Fed coin flip; while, globally, conditions in the EU and Asia, especially China, are still adverse to the Fed raising rates … leading to a stronger US dollar, … undermining US exporters’ revenues and earnings … potentially leading to USA layoffs … and a weak USA jobs reports.
The next set of questions is: “If the Fed doesn’t raise rates in December 2015, then will it be January, or March?”  Again, flip a coin.  If the Fed doesn’t raise rates in December … I expect the USA markets’ volatility to continue.

Correction, pullback, or Bear Market? …  Here’s the evidence … you be the Judge and Jury!

The talking heads keep telling us how “bad” things are, yet, the markets are trending ** UP **  off their lows. Bull and/or Bear, I choose to examine, table (a) below, how far the indexes have recovered from their lows … and in the table (b) below, to examine how far the indexes are off their highs.  In table (d) below, I examine the “projected” Highs and Lows for the indexes on this coming Monday.  Despite Mr. & Ms. Fickle Market’s volatility, through Friday’s, 11/13/2015 close:

 (a)  Correction, pullback, or Bear Market? … vs. 52 week lows

  •  The DJIA, from its low of 15370.33 on 8/24/2015, is up +1874.91  points, or +12.2%.
  •  The Nasdaq Comp, outperforming the other indexes, from its 52 week Low of 4292.14, is up +635.74 points, or +14.812%.
  •  The S&P500, from its 52 week Low of 1867.01, is up +156.03 points, or +8.357%.

Mr. & Ms. Fickle Markets clearly favor stocks of the Nasdaq Composite.  Anyone thinking of putting monies to work, in this increased volatility environment, would do well, based on the evidence,  to start their due diligence, and homework with the Nasdaq Comp stocks and ETFs. I am looking at Healthcare, Financials, Tech. and Energy sector stocks.

III.  Index Support and Resistance for Monday, (11/16/2015)

Below you will find the 52 week performance, and the Year-to-Date (YTD) performance to the selected indexes.  I added the 200 day simple moving average (SMA) calculations to those of the CBOE Interest Rate 10 Year T Note (INDEX CBOE: TNX).  For tracking the day’s action, here are the Pivot Points, Support points, Resistance points,  and the 50 day simple moving averages (sma),  for the DJIA, the NasdaqComp, the S&P 500, the Russell’s  1000, 2000, 3000 and the CBOE Interest Rate 10 Year T Note (INDEX CBOE: TNX).

If the related index, or stock, is above the pivot point, the pivot point is both support, and an indication that Mr. & Ms. Fickle Markets are Bullish.  If the related Index, or stock, is below the pivot point, then the pivot point represents resistance, as well as an indication that Mr. & Ms. Fickle Markets are Bearish.
